Letters and titles and licenses can get super wordy and super confusing. Who do you trust for what? What’s the difference between all these professionals that sometimes all say the same thing? Here’s a quick guide to learn the differences.

DPT/PT = Doctor of Physical Therapy has a doctorate degree, some Physical Therapist may have a masters degree. DPT/PTs are licensed per state, with direct access in most states (no prescription required!).

PTA = Physical Therapy Assistant has an associate's degree. PTAs are licensed per state and must work under a PT.

Chiropractic Assistants = There is no schooling required, but they must work under a chiropractor to be licensed.

CSCS = Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist requires bachelor's degree and passing score on the NSCA exam.

ATC = Athletic Trainer has a bachelor's degree. ATCs are licensed per state and must work under a physician.
